Occlusion in Clinical Practice

Overview
Participant Objectives / Program Features

Prerequisite: Facially Generated Treatment Planning

In dental school, the occlusal education of most practitioners consisted of a series of rules to follow which had little meaning to them at the time. Consequently, in clinical practice, occlusion is a subject often ignored or at best, misunderstood. Yet, no single area of dentistry is so intimately linked to the long-term success of restorations. Because of this, practitioners must make these decisions on every patient: Is an occlusal alteration necessary or appropriate? What will the alteration look like when completed? This program is designed to offer a non-dogmatic, scientifically based look at occlusion. Participants will learn and perform each step in the process of occlusal evaluation, diagnosis, and formulation of an occlusal treatment plan.
